Privacy Policy for GeoGPSCamera
Last Updated: June 1, 2026
Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how GeoGPSCamera ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile applications for Android and iOS and our related verification website (collectively, the "Service"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
Summary
- Your photos and videos stay on your device unless you choose to save them to your photo gallery or share them yourself.
- We do not upload or store your photo or video files in our server database when you register a verification session.
- We store verification metadata on our servers (such as time, GPS coordinates, address text, device identifier, and verification IDs) so you can use the verification feature.
- Map previews may use Google Maps services; ads and analytics may use Google AdMob and Firebase Analytics as described below.
Information We Collect
Information you provide or that the app processes on your device
- Location data: GPS coordinates used to geo-tag photos and show map previews in the app.
- Camera data: Photos you capture in the app. Processed on your device and saved locally or to your device photo library when you choose.
- Address text: Reverse-geocoded or manually edited address strings shown on the geo-tag overlay.
- App settings: Preferences such as map type, zoom level, aspect ratio, filters, and capture mode.
- Custom address edits: Optional manual address changes you enter before capture.
Verification metadata sent to our servers
When you use the verification feature, our app sends the following to our servers to create and manage a verification session. We do not send your photo or video file as part of this registration step:
- Date and time of the session
- Latitude and longitude
- Address text associated with the location
- A device identifier (such as device manufacturer and model)
- Verification session and photo identifiers returned by our API
- Optional cryptographic checksums (hashes) of exported verification files — not copies of your images
Optional verification photo check
If you use a feature that submits a photo to our verification API to compare against a verification code, that image is transmitted only for that verification request. We do not use this to build a photo gallery on our servers. Our primary database storage for verification is metadata only, as described above.
Device and usage information
- Device model and operating system version
- App version and general usage analytics (via Firebase Analytics)
- Crash and performance diagnostics where enabled by your platform
- Advertising identifiers and ad interaction data where AdMob is used (subject to your consent choices where required)
What we do not collect for server database storage
- We do not require an account, email, or Google Sign-In to use the core camera features on iOS.
- We do not store your captured photo or video files in our server database when you create a verification session.
How We Use Your Information
We use information to:
- Provide camera, geo-tag overlay, and photo export features
- Display map thumbnails and location details in the app
- Register and display verification sessions on our website
- Generate verification IDs and optional checksums for authenticity checks
- Show advertisements (Google AdMob) and measure app usage (Firebase Analytics)
- Improve stability, performance, and user experience
- Respond to support requests
Data Storage and Security
On your device: Photos, videos, and geo-tag overlays are stored on your device or in your system photo library when you save them. Location and timestamp may be embedded in image files as standard EXIF metadata.
On our servers: We store verification session metadata (not your image files) as described above. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data we process.
On your device (app cache): The app may cache map images and geocoding results locally to improve performance. You can clear cache from app settings.
Third-Party Services
Our Service uses third-party providers that may process data according to their own policies:
Google services (Android and iOS)
- Google Firebase Analytics: Anonymous or pseudonymous usage analytics
- Google Maps / Static Maps API: Map thumbnails and location display in geo-tags
- Google AdMob: In-app advertising
- Google User Messaging Platform (UMP): Ad consent where required by law
Android-specific: Google Play Services; optional Google Sign-In or cloud backup only if you enable those features in a future or specific build; Google Play Billing if in-app purchases are offered.
iOS-specific: Apple Camera and Photo Library APIs; Core Location ("When In Use"); local SwiftData storage for verification session metadata on device only (no photo files in that database); App Store distribution. We do not use Google Play Billing on iOS.
Location Data
Geo-tagging is a core feature. Location data is:
- Collected when you use the camera with location permission granted
- Shown on the live preview overlay and burned into images you choose to save
- Embedded in EXIF metadata of saved JPEG files when supported
- Sent to our servers only as part of verification metadata when you use verification features — not as continuous background tracking sold to third parties
- Visible to anyone who receives a shared image file that contains EXIF location data
You can revoke location or camera permission in your device settings at any time. Some features will not work without those permissions.
Data Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share information:
- With service providers (e.g., Google for maps, ads, analytics) who process data on our behalf
- When you explicitly share photos or documents using your device share sheet
- To comply with law or protect rights and safety
- In connection with a merger or acquisition
Your Choices
- Permissions: Control camera, location, and photo library access in device settings
- Capture mode: Use camera-only mode to save geo-tagged photos without opening the verification result flow
- Cache: Clear cached maps and addresses in app settings
- Advertising: Manage ad personalization via device settings and, where shown, in-app consent dialogs (UMP)
- Delete local data: Delete photos from your gallery; uninstall the app to remove local app data
- Legal documents: Review this policy and our Terms of Use at any time
Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information to us.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
